Summer 2011
Hi ,
As the summer gets underway the reality of New York State’s economic situation and its impact on all of us becomes clearer and clearer. Our voice needs to continue to be heard in the political arena. In order to be heard we, the Westchester Community College Faculty Union, will continue working to have 100% support for VoteCope which enables us to support our local and state legislators’.
We must provide support for those involved in politics that are committed to helping us in our effort to graduate more students with the skills that will enable them to become productive citizens and taxpayers nationally. Community Colleges are being recognized as the front line in the effort to involve more people in higher education. At the local level it depends on us. We need the funds to tell our story…and to enable the long term funding critically needed by our college.
The Faculty Union at the College recognizes the turbulent time that we are living through. However, we have a message to deliver through elected officials about the critical importance of the roles we play in the future of our County and the nation at large. Let’s make sure we are able to continue to financially support legislators’ who have a commitment to our campus. Please write a check made out to VoteCope for $104 for the year or have $4.00 per pay period automatically deducted from your paycheck.
Community Colleges have a major role to play in the future of education. We must ensure our growing faculty and student body will receive the support of our state and local legislators. We will be contacting you and hope you will make a significant, as possible, commitment to this very important effort.
Sincerely, VOTE COPE Coordinator |
